What is Conversion rate?

The percentage of visitors who complete the desired action — usually a purchase — out of total visitors.

The longer answer.

Conversion rate measures how often visitors do the thing you want them to do. For a sales page, it's purchases divided by visitors. Industry-typical conversion rates: 1-3% for cold paid traffic, 3-8% for warm email traffic, 10-25% for direct affiliate or referral traffic. Conversion rate is determined more by the offer and the audience-fit than by tactical landing-page tweaks; if conversion is below 1% on warm traffic, the issue is usually offer-market fit, not page copy.
