What is Gateway fee?

The percentage charged by a payment processor (Razorpay, Stripe, PayPal) for moving money — separate from platform fees.

The longer answer.

Gateway fees are charged by the payment processor — Razorpay for INR + USD, Stripe for global, PayPal for legacy buyers. Typical gateway fees: Razorpay ~2% on domestic, ~3% on international cards. Stripe ~2.9% + 30 cents on cards. These fees go directly to the gateway, not to the creator platform. When evaluating creator platforms, separate the gateway fee (unavoidable) from the platform fee (varies wildly between platforms) — they're often confused. A platform charging '5% all-in' is including gateway in its quoted rate.
